Leeds United surely have great chance of signing 26-year-old permanently after what’s been said today

Ben Davies has told Wales Online that Joe Rodon did not need to ask about a move to Leeds United and has found himself a home – surely, suggesting we have a great chance of a permanent signing.

Rodon has been in stunning form for Leeds and after three tricky years in his career following a move to Spurs, back in 2020. Two years at Spurs, where he failed to break into the London club’s starting XI.

The third year, saw Rodon sent on loan to French side Rennes where he gained more game time – but failed to play well in a consistent manner. Rodon needed to find a place where he could finally play well.

He has got that at Leeds. A drop down in division, but no difference in terms of size and stature of the club. Davies says Rodon did not need to speak to him for counsel, when deciding whether to join Leeds.

“He didn’t have to. It was a great opportunity, he knew he was going to play a lot of football at a massive club with ambitions of going back to the Premier League. He has started so well, he is enjoying it there.

“Sometimes people forget how challenging it is going somewhere and then you have to move every nine months to a new place. But I think he really seems to have found himself a home at Leeds,” Davies said.

Leeds will surely be looking at a move for Rodon. His early form will surely have already convinced Leeds to sign Rodon beyond his loan. Perhaps unlikely in January, but surely, next summer – Leeds will move.

Phil Hay told The Square Ball recently that Spurs demanded £15m for a permanent move, before a loan deal was organised. Spurs will still want to sell him, given Ange Postecoglou will look to sign defenders.

Leeds will need to gain promotion to financially stand a chance of spending £15m on a defender. But, given Davies’ comments on Rodon – stating how happy he is – surely, he would be keen to sign for us.

Finally finding himself a home after three years of struggling at Spurs and a tricky time in France, Rodon is “happy” and signing permanently for Leeds will appeal to him – especially, if Leeds gain promotion.
