Leeds United player admits he is not at his best after Elland Road showing, says his momentum ‘stopped’

Leeds United secured a sixth Championship win of the season on Tuesday night and went joint-top of the table as The Whites inched to a 2-1 win over Watford at Elland Road.

Despite scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes against Watford, Leeds did not enjoy as comfortable a night as they might have first imagined. The Whites in fact, had to hold on towards the end of the game.

Daniel Bachmann was the villain for Watford, as the Hornets stopper fumbled an early effort from Largie Ramazani on four minutes. A curling effort that was straight at him, dropped over the Watford goalline.

Then, three minutes later, Wilfried Gnonto’s teasing cross was spilt by Bachmann and Brenden Aaronson was on hand to score his third goal of the season. Leeds were 2-0 up after seven minutes on Tuesday.

Manor Solomon admits he is far from his best after Leeds outing

Watford came back into the match seconds into the second half, when Pascal Struijk was easily beaten by Kwadwo Baah. His cross was inadvertently played back to him by Joe Rodon, and he slammed home.

Leeds held on, surpassing a Watford onslaught before The Whites missed a few chances themselves. The 2-1 win saw Manor Solomon continue his return from injury, after missing a month due to a back issue.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Solomon said that he knows he is far from his best with the injury stopping his momentum: “Back after a few weeks. Unfortunately I picked up an injury, it stopped my momentum.

“But now I’m back, I’m feeling good, it’s behind me. I just want to get more minutes to show the best version of myself, I’m still not at my best or at the top of my game but I will get there,” Solomon said.

Who starts for Leeds on Saturday with Ramazani possibly out?

Ramazani could then be missing on Saturday when Leeds go to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City. So, who comes in – an underperforming Solomon, or Dan James? LeedsUnited.News gave Solomon a 4/10.

Wales star James looked impressive when he entered the fray. He supplied a wonderful cross for Mateo Joseph, only for the Spain U21 striker to plant his close-range header straight at the shaky Bachmann.

Then, James was played in on the right by Joseph and his effort at goal was palmed over the bar by the Watford goalkeeper. An exciting cameo role, that might just tempt Daniel Farke to choose James.
