Mateusz Klich has made a good impression in his first couple of games for DC United since joining Wayne Rooney’s side from Leeds United – and now, he could form a midfield partnership with previous Leeds target Lewis O’Brien.
Klich, 32, scored a gorgeous goal in his first outing for DC, as Rooney’s men came from behind to beat Toronto 3-2 in added time. He also produced a decent shift in the 2-0 defeat last time out, away at Columbus Crew on Sunday.
DC are not among the favourites to go on and win the MLS but they should be there, or thereabouts. They remain in the market for new additions, with the MLS window closing on April 24. Indeed, Klich could be joined by O’Brien.
In the summer of 2021, Leeds tried to sign O’Brien from Huddersfield – after shining for Carlos Corberan’s side. In January 2022, as well – as per TeamTalk. But last summer, he moved to Nottingham Forest for a fee of £10million.

But after Forest’s busy January, off the back of a ridiculously busy summer, O’Brien lost his place in Forest’s 25-man Premier League squad. It means he can no longer play in the Premier League for Steve Cooper’s side this term.
Hardly his fault, especially after impressing during the first half of the season. He played 17 times in all competitions in the first half of the season, even scoring against Fulham. Now, he is on the sidelines at Forest and needs a move.
The MLS is the only place he can realistically go due to most windows being closed. It comes after almost joining Blackburn in January, only for a move to fall through. Now, BBC say he is about to team up with Klich at DC on loan.
