Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad claim that Everton have joined the race to sign Club Brugge goalkeeper Senne Lammens after earlier reports this month suggested that Leeds United were set to complete a deal for the Belgium U21 star.

Lammens, 20, is in the final six months of his contract and at this stage, it looks likely that Lammens could sign a pre-contract arrangement. That, or, Brugge allow him to go on the cheap in the next 36 hours, before the 11pm deadline.

The youngster has managed just four senior appearances for his boyhood club. That is because he continues to play back-up to ex-Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet. Lammens has kept three clean sheets in those games, conceding five times.

Belgian site HLN report that Lammens was set to move to Elland Road. But now, it appears that Everton are interested. The two Premier League sides are not the only clubs interested, with Belgian clubs including Royal Antwerp also keen.

Everton join race to sign Brugge goalkeeper Lammens after Leeds reports

Out of contract at the end of the season, Lammens is certainly on the move. Whether Leeds make their move now, or decide to bring him in on a pre-contract remains to be seen. It may be dictated by Everton’s interest in the stopper.

But at this late stage in the window, and with Lammens available on a free transfer, it might be that Leeds and Everton look to strike a pre-contract for the Belgian. Victor Orta has prowess in being able to convince young stars to join us.

Leeds do have Joel Robles but he is out of contract at the end of the season. Kris Klaesson has failed to shine since his move from Norwegian football. So, Lammens presents Leeds with an improvement as cover for no.1 star Illan Meslier.
