TeamTalk claim Coventry City value Gustavo Hamer in the region of £16m after selling Victor Gyokeres to Sporting Lisbon amid reports Leeds United are interested – while Premier League trio Fulham, Forest and Burnley are keen.

Hamer, 26, starred for Coventry last season. In his third and best season with Mark Robins’ side, he was crucial in their push for promotion – reaching the Championship play-off final. He scored at Wembley, drawing with Luton.

Coventry, though, lost on penalties and that has seen Gyokeres leave the club for Portugal. Hamer is also expected to depart with Premier League interest in him. Phil Hay told the The Square Ball that Leeds are interested in him.

Now, the report from TeamTalk claim clubs interested in Hamer would have to pay a fee of £16m to land the Brazil-born star. They also claim that Fulham, Burnley and Nottingham Forest are also in talks to land the Coventry ace.

Leeds have allowed Brenden Aaronson to go out on loan to join Champions League side Union Berlin, leaving Leeds with a hole in the 10 role. Sam Greenwood started in that position on Wednesday, replaced by striker Joe Gelhardt.

But of course, Joffy is not a 10 and Greenwood might be needed deeper next season with Leeds lacking in midfield. There is no doubting that if Leeds could get Hamer, then are chances of promotion back to the top tier improve.

Realistically, though, Hamer will move to the Premier League. His exit from Coventry is likely, given his contract ends in a year. They need to sell. He is represented by the same agency that look after Dan James and Patrick Bamford.
