Dutch outlet LC claim Leeds United are interested in signing Heerenveen flyer Milan van Ewijk this summer, despite our options on the right side of defence – but Leeds could face competition from the likes of Porto, and Coventry.
Van Ewijk, 22, starred for Heerenveen last summer. Breaking into the side having joined in the summer of 2021, the right-back scored one goal and laid on another in his 38 games in 21-22. But it was last season, that caught the eye.
Playing 40 times, mostly from right-back but sometimes as a wing-back, or a winger, he had a hand in nine goals. An impressive six goals, and three assists. He has two years left on his deal but a summer exit is looking very likely.
The report claims that Coventry have made a bid to sign the Netherlands U21 star, but it has been rejected. Leeds are also said to be showing interest. A previous report from LC claims that Porto are keen to take him to Portugal.

Do Leeds need a right-back? There is no denying that van Ewijk is a player with huge potential, and will go on to have a career right at the top level. While Leeds have money, Financial Fairplay is likely to prevent us going big.
Especially, having failed to sell any players for a decent fee – other than Rodrigo. Even that was on the cheap. Leeds need to prioritise signings players in positions that require strengthening. Right-back is not one of those positions.
Luke Ayling is likely to be competition for Cody Drameh this season. So much so, that Rasmus Kristensen was sent on loan to Roma and is yet to be replaced. Van Ewijk is a top player, massive promise but he is not needed at Leeds.
