Leeds United are set to receive £20 million once Diego Llorente makes his expected loan move to Roma permanent in the summer, according to a report from The Times.
It has been a positive window for the Whites. Weston McKennie has become the latest to join Jesse Marsch’s ranks, following Max Wober and Georginio Rutter through the door.
It may be a quiet deadline day for Leeds. But it seems that they may still be involved in at least one deal – with one player set to leave Elland Road.
Roma to pay £20m for Diego Llorente
It was reported by Gianluca Di Marzio on Monday that Llorente was set to join Roma on loan. And it seems that there is scope for that move to become a permanent deal in the summer.
Llorente has not had the best time at Leeds. Injuries blighted his first season. And while there have been good performances at times, there have also been a number of costly mistakes. And he has been a peripheral figure since a nightmare display at Brentford in September.
Surprisingly, Leeds handed Llorente a new contract last month. But it would appear that that decision was made with a future sale in their mind.
The Times is reporting that the Spaniard will sign for Jose Mourinho’s men. And Leeds will earn £20 million once the move is made permanent in the summer, seemingly suggesting that it will be an obligation to buy.
Seeing Llorente leave will please a lot of Leeds fans. Unfortunately, it has not worked out for the 29-year-old in the Premier League.
Relying on him has proved difficult due to his mistakes. And Llorente will not want to sit on the bench when he has previously been in Spain squad.
If Leeds get £20 million for Llorente, it really will be a superb piece of business.
