Leeds United teenager Cuba Cline has taken to Instagram to confirm he will miss the rest of the season through injury after undergoing an operation to correct what looks like an injury to his left ankle – which is bandaged up.
Cline, 18, has been a regular for the club’s Under-18 side this season. It comes after joining Leeds from Liverpool in 2021, clocking up 29 appearances for the U18’s since his move from Anfield. The club that beat the senior side 6-1.
Able to play at right-back, but equally capable on the left, Cline – who was once called up by England’s U15 side – played 15 times in 22-23. He has endured spells without playing, failing to play any of the three games in October.
Now, Cline has taken to Instagram to inform fans that he is in a better place after undergoing surgery on what might have been a bit of a long-standing issue. He confirms that he will be sidelined for the rest of the current campaign.
Leeds teen Cline takes to Instagram to confirm he will miss rest of season
A blow for Cline. Not least because he will miss the remaining five Premier League games for the U18’s, but because Leeds sit rock bottom of the North table. It is a blow for the 18’s as they look to escape a bottom of the table finish.
It is a blow for Cline on a personal level, too. He is contracted at Leeds until the summer of 2024, having penned a three-year deal when signing from Liverpool. It means that come the summer, his future might be in a bit of doubt.
Cline will have to have a good pre-season and show Leeds why he deserves a new deal with time running out. It is unclear if Leeds have an extension clause in his contract at Elland Road – but for now, he will be on the sidelines.
