Leeds United are one of the sides to have missed out on young forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan, with Fabrizio Romano reporting on Twitter that he is closing in on a £6 million move to Chelsea.
Morgan is currently on the books at Southampton. Sky Sports reported last month that he had told the Saints that he wanted to leave and had rejected a first professional contract.
And it seemed that Leeds were one of the teams keen to sign the 17-year-old. According to Sky Sports, Arsenal and Manchester City were also admirers of the teenager. However, it seems that they are all set for disappointment.
Leeds target Morgan set to join Chelsea
Romano has now provided an update on his future. He has claimed that Morgan will become the latest prospect to sign up at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Southampton are set to earn nearly £6 million as part of the deal.

Leeds would have fancied their chances of competing for Morgan’s signature. The Whites have done some amazing work when it comes to signing talented younger players from rival clubs.
The likes of Sonny Perkins and Darko Gyabi look to be destined for the first-team fold at Elland Road. And there are several others already there in and around Jesse Marsch’s plans.
And of course, it was likely to be easier for Leeds to present Morgan with a pathway to the first-team than some of the other sides keen on a deal.
But Chelsea have made a big push to strengthen their youth ranks under their new owners. So it should probably come as little surprise that they have seemingly won the race for Morgan.
