German newspaper BILD report that Yussuf Poulsen has no intention of leaving RB Leipzig over the course of the next few weeks despite interest from Leeds United and other clubs – but a new deal is unlikely for the Danish striker.
Poulsen, 29, emerged as a surprise target for Leeds last month. The Mail said the 70-time Denmark star was on the list at Elland Road, with Daniel Farke keen to sign players he knows plenty about. He has spent 10 years at Leipzig.
In that time, he has played 358 games – having a hand in 148 goals, 85 of his own, 63 in assists. He is a no.9 but is renowned more for his ability to bring others into the game and his work rate. He can play as a 10, and out wide, too.
Following the initial report, Turkish site Yenicag said Leeds had made an offer – but given our relegation, he wanted to wait and see what came to the table. SuperLig side Trabzonspor were given the green light. But now, a decision.
BILD report that Poulsen has no intention of leaving Leipzig and he is in the club’s plans ahead of the new season. But, there is another caveat to that. His deal ends in 2024, and there are no plans to extend his current contract.

So, any chance of a move for Poulsen this summer is over. But, if Leeds remain interested and perhaps, the club do gain promotion this season – there is always a chance we could nab Leipzig’s no.9 next summer on a free transfer.
But you can hardly blame Poulsen. On a big contract, at a Champions League club – a club where he has played for more than a decade. He was always going to stay and see out his contract. Maybe next summer, Leeds could move.
