Leeds United remain admirers of Patrick Vieira despite his sacking from Crystal Palace earlier this month.
Javi Gracia has made a positive start to life at Leeds. The Whites have won two of his first four league games in charge. And the side look much better than they did for much of Jesse Marsch’s tenure.
However, Gracia’s position looks set to be assessed in the summer. And it seems that one of the first names to potentially succeed the Spaniard has already emerged.
Of course, one of the managers to most recently lose their job was Patrick Vieira. The Frenchman was sacked after more than 20 months at Selhurst Park.

Interestingly, The Athletic reported shortly after his departure that Vieira was actually interested in succeeding Jesse Marsch at Elland Road.

And it would appear that Leeds would have been open to appointing the 46-year-old. TalkSPORT is now claiming that Vieira was on their shortlist to replace Marsch.

And according to the report, his stock remains very high amongst the decision-makers at Leeds. Therefore, he could come back onto the radar in the summer if another change is made.
It is wise that the club keep their options open heading into the summer.
It is probably fair to say that many of us got a little carried away by Marsch keeping us up last season. There was real hope that we would kick on in his first full campaign in charge. And with that, some of the warning signs were overlooked.
Gracia has made a really promising start. But Leeds need to ensure that, if Gracia gets the job on a more permanent basis, it is because he is the man to lead us forward. Otherwise, we will be going through exactly the same problems next year.
Vieira did a very good job for most of his time at Palace. So it makes sense that Leeds keep him on their radar.
Hopefully however, the manager we need is already in place.
