Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto has backed Manchester City to win the Champions League during an interview with Italian outlet Sport Mediaset – as the group stages get underway on Tuesday evening.
Gnonto, 19, has remained at Elland Road after a tumultuous summer which has seen come in and out of the Leeds side. Now, his future is at Elland Road. He is first choice on the left flank of Daniel Farke’s XI.
Man City get their Champions League group stage campaign off this evening, taking on Crvena Zvezda. They find themselves in a group that leaves them with a good chance of qualifying; Young Boys, Leipzig.

There are other strong contenders for the title. Inter Milan got to the final last term, Milan look good. Real Madrid and Jude Bellingham will be in the mix. Bayern Munich with Harry Kane, and plenty more.
Gnonto was asked who could be in line to win the Champions League title. He responded by saying that Manchester City look the strongest after they won last season. But they do have their injury problems.

If City can get their injured players back soon, they stand a chance. They are not firing on all cylinders just yet – with Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, Jack Grealish and new signing Mateo Kovacic all out.
Gnonto was linked with Manchester City at one point last season – Gazzetta Dello Sport reporting in March that City were battling Arsenal and Chelsea for his signature. Instead, City have got Jeremy Doku.
