Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claim that Leeds United star Willy Gnonto has informed his agents to find him a new club ahead of the January window – with talks already open with AS Roma and Lazio.

Gnonto, 19, is struggling to find his best form after a summer in which the Italy ace refused to play for the club – missing a total of three games. Injury then struck, meaning it has been a disrupted season.

The ex-Zurich and Inter Milan star now finds himself on the bench at Elland Road, struggling to get into the XI ahead of an in-form Dan James, and Crysencio Summerville who finds himself in mercurial form.

The new report claims that Gnonto remains desperate to leave Elland Road, despite being on media duties this week. It is said he has asked his representatives to look for a club for him, prior to January.

And so, his agents have been talking to new clubs. They are said to have staged talks with Roma, of course, managed by Jose Mourinho – the side that have Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen on loan.

The report continues that Roma’s sporting director Tiago Pinto spoke to Gnonto’s representatives – but talks did not go far. Roma are under strict Financial Fairplay limitations – and are prioritising a defender.

Then, talks were held with Lazio. Maurizio Sarri’s side are said to like Gnonto – and sporting director Angelo Mariano Fabiani is keen to bring him back to Italy. However, our £22m asking price is too much.

At least, for now. Gnonto’s representatives and Lazio will meet again in the next few days in order to obtain as to whether a reduction can be achieved. Gnonto’s best bet right now, is a move to Lazio.
