Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson has joked to The Athletic that he is spending too much time with USA and Leeds teammate Tyler Adams and is trying to avoid him – given the duo are together in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup.

Aaronson and Adams teamed up in the summer, having played together for the last couple of years with the USMNT. While both have previously played under Jesse Marsch, they had not crossed paths at club level until moving to Leeds.

While Adams has started all but one of our Premier League games this season, Aaronson has started all 14. It is likely, that if they remain fit, the duo are going to start all three group games for Gregg Berhalter’s USA side in Qatar, too.

The duo are crucial for the US side, who will play against England on November 25. They begin their campaign against Wales on Monday, while England face Iran. Aaronson joked he is spending too much time with Leeds star Adams.

Clearly, the relationship between the duo is excellent. Not only off the pitch, but on it, too. It has to be, given the proximity of the £45million stars in the Leeds side. Aaronson plays in the 10 of a 4-2-3-1 system, with Adams behind.

The duo will be together for the rest of the tournament and depending on how far they go, it could be a for a few weeks. Indeed, USA will be confident they have enough to get out of the group – although likely to be behind England.
