The first batch of Leeds United players returned for pre-season on Monday and with that, came a plethora of social media content.
Members of the Leeds squad who did not represent their country in last month’s international break were at Leeds Beckett’s Carnegie School of Sport campus to begin the first round of testing.
Following Leeds’ relegation in May, there has been a host of speculation as to who will be leaving Elland Road this summer and so it is clear the club’s content team have been careful with the players they have posted across social media.
The likes of Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper and Joe Gelhardt all featured across Leeds’ Twitter and Instagram platforms, with their futures almost certainly laying in West Yorkshire.
However, Leeds also posted an extended video of January signing Georginio Rutter getting back to work, despite tenuous loan links to old club Hoffenheim.
Leeds social media activity on Rutter a hint he will stay
The likes of Phil Hay have reported Rutter is among those likely to stay this summer, but this social media activity is surely the biggest hint yet he will be sticking around.
As mentioned, it is clear the club were choosing carefully the players they were posting content of and the likelihood of Rutter staying is a huge boost for Leeds.
Rutter was barely given a chance after his club record arrival in January but showed in flashes the potential he has at his disposal in the brief cameos he got.
The 21-year-old is an excellent dribbler and has pace to burn, which will undoubtedly be a brutal combination for Championship defenders to have to contend with.
He is also capable of leading the line, playing just off the front and even out wide, with his ability to play with both feet making him an extremely versatile attacker.
Rutter is the type of player Leeds should be building their team around and there is no doubt he has the potential to hit double figures for both goals and assists this season.
