Football Transfers quite bizarrely claim that Leeds Untied are among the clubs still keen on West Ham icon Michail Antonio – with the player possibly requesting to go if the Hammers sign Youssef En-Nesyri.

Antonio, 33, has made a wonderful start to the 2023-24 season with the Hammers. West Ham have sold Gianluca Scamacca, meaning Antonio remains first choice. He has netted two league goals already.

A goal against rivals Chelsea in a superb 3-1 home victory, before netting away at Brighton – West Ham winning by the same result. But, Antonio’s contract is due to expire at the end of the current season.

With Scamacca going, West Ham are expected to bring in a new striker despite having Danny Ings on the bench. En-Nesyri has been a long-term target for the Hammers, starring over the years at Sevilla.

But the latest report claims that if West Ham sign En-Nesyri, Antonio will request to leave. The report claims Leeds are still keen, despite signing Joel Piroe. Fulham and Saudi Arabian clubs are also keen.

Leeds among clubs keen on Antonio; he could request to go

So, Antonio could be on his way. It seems ridiculous on two fronts, though. One, that West Ham would consider risking the sale of the Jamaica star – especially when he is producing the form he is doing.

Secondly, that Leeds are in the market for another striker – having signed Piroe from Swansea, who netted on his debut on Saturday. Leeds do have options; Patrick Bamford, Mateo Joseph, Joe Gelhardt.

So, a striker is hardly a priority. Antonio will surely be kept by West Ham if they have any sense – but if he does decide to go, a move to Fulham or a club in the Saudi Pro League may tempt Antonio more.
