Ben White posted on Instagram after helping his Brighton side pick up a point against Crystal Palace as Alexis MacAllister came off the bench to fire a late equaliser past Vicente Guaita – and Leeds players applauded the Seagulls ace.
White – who played every single match for Leeds last season during their promotion-winning campaign – has since returned to Brighton after signing a new contract with his boyhood club. He has been used on the right side of a back three so far.
But that has not worked for Brighton’s number three. A number of mediocre performances have coincided with results. But on Sunday, he was moved into holding midfield for Brighton by Graham Potter – a position he learned under Marcelo Bielsa.
Perhaps it was that guidance that saw White excel, keeping Wilfried Zaha quiet. He even came close to scoring and The Argus conducted a poll that saw fans award him the man-of-the-match award. White posted on Instagram after the match.
Despite three rejected bids from Leeds, the final offer totalling £25million, White has remained at Brighton and become a regular in Potter’s side since the season began. He has started all five league games, and played once in the Carabao Cup.
However, he is still well-liked at Leeds and continues to be friends with the likes of Kalvin Phillips – with whom he went on holiday with in the summer. Phillips responded, as did Tyler Roberts, Olly Casey and Leif Davis to his latest post.
