Leeds United could reportedly accept a bid of £19 million for Wilfried Gnonto this summer.

That is according to Football Transfers, who report Everton have already had a £15 million offer turned down with Leeds instead valuing Gnonto at closer to £19 million.

Given how long left he has on his contract, that does not include a relegation release clause, this would be a dreadful deal from Leeds‘ point of view.

Gnonto is now a full Italy international and enjoyed a very promising first campaign as a Premier League player, which should automatically elevate his value.

At 19, he also has enormous potential to develop into a top player, and losing him for less than £20 million would be completely undervaluing their prized asset.

Leeds should use Bristol City’s Alex Scott valuation as benchmark

A £19 million agreement would be made to look even more baffling if Bristol City manage to secure a fee of £25 million for Alex Scott.

There is no denying Scott has enormous potential but at this stage of his career, his pedigree is much less than that of Gnonto.

Scott is yet to play at a higher level than the Championship, has only two years left on his deal at Bristol City and is yet to be capped for England at an age group higher than U20s.

He could well go onto enjoy a far better career than Gnonto, but at this stage – with both of them only 19 – there is no reason for Scott to be going for a higher fee.

If Leeds are to sell Gnonto for just £19 million it would be nothing short of professional suicide and hopefully San Francisco 49ers Enterprises can recognise his real worth.
