Bournemouth have announced the surprise decision to wave goodbye Gary O’Neil and bring in Andoni Iraola within the space of a couple of hours – the second Leeds manager target to find himself a new home in the last 24 hours.
Leeds remain without a manager while other clubs are now beginning to appoint their own. Daniel Farke, Carlos Corberan and Scott Parker remain the three front runners but there is every chance that Leeds cause a surprise.
This is Leeds we are talking about, after all. It is unclear who the 49ers feel would be best-suited to getting Leeds back into the Premier League. But over the course of Monday, a couple of names to be linked have won new jobs.

Brendan Rodgers, the first. A manager Phil Hay said Leeds “really want”. Celtic confirmed the return of Rodgers on a three-year deal, after leaving for Leicester City. That ended any chance of Leeds tempting the Northern Irishman.
Bournemouth announce Iraola: Second Leeds target finds new home
Now, another. Iraola was the main target for Victor Orta when Leeds sacked Jesse Marsch, but he did not want to leave Rayo Vallecano mid-season. Hay reported on The Athletic that the 49ers would have brought in Iraola.

If, we had survived. But we haven’t. We find ourselves in the Championship, missing out on managers to the likes of Bournemouth. Rodgers preferred another go at writing his name into Celtic immortality, rather than a Leeds move.
It all points to one thing. Leeds are going to have to lower the bar in terms of manager if we want to name a new boss in the next few days. That is probably why fans are feeling underwhelmed with Farke, Corberan or Parker.
