Adam Forshaw is the latest Leeds United player to take to Instagram since the club suffered relegation from the Premier League to the Championship, apologising to the supporters – with his own future at Leeds up in the air.
Forshaw, 31, was arguably the best player of Sam Allardyce’s short spell in charge. But the ex-Everton and Boro midfielder managed just 13 outings in all competitions throughout 2022-23, completing little over 500 minutes.
Joining Leeds back in January and since spending the last five and a half years at Elland Road, he has played just 91 times for the club. A real sign of Forshaw’s struggle with injuries, missing almost two years due to a hip problem.
But judging by his form in the last few games, Forshaw made a real statement to the club and board to keep him at the club. Indeed, Forshaw himself has made it clear he wants to stay. Now, the midfielder has posted on Instagram.

Leeds have a decision to make, and one that needs to be made quickly. Of course, priority should be given to the takeover. Forshaw has the option to extend his deal by another 12 months. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
As things stand, Forshaw will leave Leeds at the end of the month, in 22 days. But given Leeds have dropped to the Championship, and with Weston McKennie already gone and Tyler Adams likely to join him – surely, he must be kept.
But if Leeds are to retain the services of Forshaw then they really need to get their skates on. Some clubs might have had a look at Forshaw in the last few games, and risk his injury record. He is available to talk to clubs right now.
