90Min and a number of other websites claim that Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been added to Leeds United’s managerial shortlist as the club continue their pursuit of a replacement for Jesse Marsch. Slot is starring in Holland.

Leeds have now missed out on Carlos Corberan, who has signed a new deal at West Brom. Real Madrid legend Raul has rejected a move to Elland Road. Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou is an option but it is unlikely he leaves the Scottish side.

Slot, 44, has starred in the Eredivisie. As a player, he clocked up more than 450 appearances in the top tier of Dutch football. But he never left his home country, and it is the same story as a manager. But now, that could soon change.

Having won 32 of 58 Alkmaar games, he then moved to Feyenoord in the summer of 2021. Since then, he has won 48 of 80 games, a 60% win ratio. He took Feyenoord to the Europa Conference League final, losing to Roma, last season.

This season, Feyenoord sit top of the Eredivisie, two points ahead of his old side Alkmaar. Three ahead of Ajax, who are easily the most-financially powerful side in the division. Leeds are discussing a possible move to Elland Road for Slot.

Slot is in a similar position to Postecoglou at Celtic. Why, would he want to leave a club that currently sit top of the table? Slot has never won the Eredivisie, as a player, or a manager. He stands his best-ever chance this season as boss.

So, surely, he would rather remain at Feyenoord. Come the summer, Leeds would have a much better chance of being able to lure Slot to Elland Road. An issue for Leeds is that he is unproven. £21m ace Luis Sinisterra knows him well.
