Spanish football legend Raul has rejected a move to replace Jesse Marsch at Leeds United, according to newspaper AS. Raul is currently in charge of Real Madrid’s reserves, clocking up more than 100 games in charge of the Castilla side.
Leeds decided to cut ties with Marsch on Monday after another defeat, this time to Nottingham Forest on Sunday. He watched his side dominate possession, territory and chances – but the Whites failed to score. Leeds suffered a 1-0 loss.
It saw Leeds sack Marsch and now the race is on to replace him. Androni Iraola, Carlos Corberan, Steven Gerrard and plenty of other managers have been linked with the vacant role already. Corberan was seen as the front runner.
But, YEP reporter Graham Smyth claims that Corberan is not actually the front runner and Leeds want someone with more experience. Now, AS claim Leeds have made an approach to bring in footballing icon Raul, as Leeds manager.
Raul has been in charge of Madrid’s B-team for almost four years – clocking up 103 games in charge. Madrid have been moulding him to replace Carlo Ancelotti. But, he is yet to get that chance. A move to Leeds has been rejected.

Raul is yet to manage a senior game of football, but of course, he is a footballing legend. A player with 741 games for Madrid, scoring 323 goals. He has 102 caps for Spain, netting 44 goals. Six league titles, three Champions Leagues.
But is he the right man for Leeds? Real Madrid would need Raul, maybe, to go out and get experience before taking over at Leeds. So, Leeds would be a stop gap. Leeds need a man with know how right now and Raul is largely untested.
