Leeds manager Jesse Marsch delivers verdict on Tottenham boss Antonio Conte

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has told Friday’s press conference – as per the Club’s YouTube – that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte does not do a lot of rotation but his Spurs side are “disciplined” in the way he wants to play.

Conte, 53, has guided Tottenham to fourth in the Premier League table at this stage. He has also masterminded Spurs achieving first in Group D of the Champions League. But they have lost three of their last four League games.

With Tottenham beginning to show an unwanted trend of struggling in the first half, but improving in the second – Leeds may fancy their chances. Especially, given they have won games against both Liverpool and Chelsea.

Marsch was asked what he thought of Tottenham boss Conte on Friday in his lead up to Saturday’s match. He says the Italian does not do much in way of changing his side, to keep players fresh. Harry Kane may agree with that.

“Conte in general, doesn’t do a lot of rotation. He has a group that he works intensively with and protects. He has travelled to the US many times with Juventus or whatever, and he keeps a closed environment.

“This is his leadership style. I think in the moment, Tottenham have had a lot of games – but rotated a bit. They have a quality squad, this is a big challenge – disciplined in the way they want to play,” Leeds boss Marsch said, on Conte.

Kane, for example, has started all 21 matches between the start of August and up until now. Conte will only use the players he trusts – and that means rotation is small at Spurs. It explains his requirement to bring in more new stars.

The England skipper is likely to start against Leeds on Saturday. England fans will be watching with baited breath, hoping their star man is not injured. But judging by Tottenham’s recent form, Leeds have a real chance of a win.
