Ian Poveda was an unused substitute on Saturday during Leeds United’s win over Plymouth but the Yorkshire Evening Post shared what he did when Patrick Bamford and Ilia Gruev were subbed on.

Goals from Dan James and Joel Piroe was enough to secure another three points at Elland Road, as we kept the pressure on top two Leicester City and Ipswich Town – with Middlesbrough losing to Leicester.

Going into the November break, Leeds have three wins in a row and six from our last seven. A brilliant run of results, and a clear sign that this Leeds side are all pulling together, not just those starting games.

Poveda is a clear example, after his actions on Saturday. The 23-year-old has only managed three sub outings in our last 12 games. He was warming up in the latter stages alongside duo Bamford and Gruev.

Junior Firpo, Jaidon Anthony and Willy Gnonto had come on prior to Bamford and Gruev coming off the bench in injury time. Poveda, having warmed up, might have felt a bit gutted to be left on the bench.

But, the YEP said that he patted Bamford and Gruev on the back as the duo came on – while he returned to his place on the bench on Saturday. Poveda’s lack of game time clearly, not affecting his attitude.

Poveda deserves his place in the matchday squad having returned and impressing during pre-season. A player of huge potential, but after a tricky couple of years – is yet to turn potential into proven quality.
