Fabrizio Romano has reported that Gjanni Alioski has picked his new club, following his Leeds United exit. It is one that is going to cause mass controversy. In another Harry Kewell-like incident, the North Macedonia ace is set to join Galatasaray. Leeds fans have discussed Alioski on Twitter.
Alioski, 29, left Leeds on a free transfer earlier in June – despite an offer on the table from the Yorkshire club. Having turned out 171 times in four year at Leeds, the versatile winger was always going to be a player in demand. But little would have predicted this would be his next move.
What are Leeds fans saying about Alioski joining Galatasaray?
As you can imagine, the reaction is not impressive. Italian journalist Romano, who is widely renowned as being one of the most in-the-know transfer reporters in the business, says Alioski is set to sign on at Galatasaray. It comes after a move for Patrick van Aanholt fell through.
Leeds fans do not need need reminding why the rivalry is so ferocious between us, and them. But Nigel Martyn spoke in light of the 21st anniversary of the incident involving Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight, back in April. Harry Kewell made a similar move to the Turkish club.
Leeds fans reacted on Twitter and while some were angry, the majority were gutted to find out that such a well-liked figure in Alioski had chosen to join Galatasaray.
