Leeds United will have to see off competition from Arsenal if they hope to sign Barcelona starlet Ilias Akhomach.
Akhomach is going to leave Camp Nou when his contract expires in the summer. And previous reports from Sport have claimed that Leeds are at the forefront of the race to sign the 19-year-old Akhomach.

But Sport‘s latest report has now suggested that Arsenal want the teenager. They do however, report that Leeds have an advantage over all of the other admirers in the battle to sign Akhomach.

Meanwhile, Sevilla and AC Milan are also interested in the youngster.

But Sport reports that Arsenal have been monitoring the wide-man for a long time. And they are keen to bring Akhomach to the Emirates – ahead of Leeds, it seems.
Of course, Arsenal do have experience of signing players from Barcelona in the past. Both Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin broke through in North London after initially starting their youth careers at La Masia.
And Mikel Arteta has built an incredibly exciting, young team. So it is not difficult to see why someone such as Akhomach may be tempted by the possibility of joining Arsenal.
But obviously, Leeds can probably offer Akhomach the quicker route to regular first-team football.
In fairness, the Whites are looking very strong in the final third in terms of depth. But clearly, the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have been two of the very best forwards in the Premier League this season.
It already appeared to be a real statement that Leeds were looking to be in a good position in the race for the ‘spectacular‘ youngster’s signature.
But it really would be something if Leeds secured his signature ahead of Arsenal in the coming months.
