Leeds United are reportedly in the race to sign Middlesbrough man Paddy McNair this summer with the Boro star entering the last year of his contract – and Stuart Dallas was blown away by his international teammate in 2019.
McNair, 28, looks set to leave Boro this summer. TeamTalk report that Leeds are keen on the £5m Teesside player, along with newly-promoted Burnley, Luton and Sheffield United. Premier League outfit Fulham are also interested.
Bournemouth also want to take him into the Premier League, while Leeds and Leicester want to keep him in the Championship. It is unclear how much Boro will want for the versatile ace, able to play in both defence and midfield.
Following the end of the 2018-19 season, McNair scored a late winner in a 1-0 win over Belarus. Speaking to Irish News after the match, Leeds icon Dallas was full of praise for McNair – praising the Boro star for his work rate.
“Paddy has been excellent. He’s proved what a really good player he is. He works hard, he’s fit, his running ability and how powerful he is are something else. You’d think the 90th minute was the first minute and it’s a credit to him.”

McNair is able to play as a centre-back, and in the middle of the park – two areas in which Leeds need additions. Not only that, but McNair has clocked up a huge 191 outings in England’s second tier and had a hand in 32 goals.
While Leeds are keen, it is unclear if the Whites will be able to lure him in. Plenty of competition including Premier League clubs, and whether Middlesbrough will let him go for an agreeable fee. Dallas’ comments are encouraging.
