Sam Allardyce has been appointed as Leeds United’s new head coach on Wednesday morning and he gave his first interview to TalkSPORT this morning – branding the facilities as “fabulous”, but wishing he had a little bit more time.

Allardyce, 68, returns for his ninth spell in the Premier League – having previously managed Bolton, Palace, Everton, West Ham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Blackburn and West Brom. He faces a mammoth task to keep us in the top tier.

Leeds have four games left to play – starting with a trip to Manchester City this weekend. Probably, the toughest game in the Premier League calendar. Maybe, just maybe, a new manager bounce could help Leeds on Saturday.

Then, Leeds face one of his old sides in Newcastle at Elland Road, and another of his former teams in West Ham away. We finish the campaign, hosting Tottenham. Allardyce gave his first interview to TalkSPORT this morning.

“I’m stood here in my office overlooking the training ground, the fabulous facilities here at Leeds, excited to be involved again. Obviously there’s a tingle that runs through your veins when you take over a football club.

“It’s in a lot of trouble. I’ve seen a lot of trouble before. Hopefully – I could have done with a little bit more time, but four games – hopefully we can make a difference and keep this fabulous club in the Premier League,” Allardyce said.

It is arguably Allardyce’s toughest job to date. No time, a few days before a near-impossible job, and an incredibly tough run in. But, Leeds do remain out of the relegation zone, and are more than capable of picking up more points.

Allardyce needs to stem the flow of goals and that is certainly his area of expertise. Leeds have the players to play on the counter and score, without committing to many forward. That will be Allardyce’s aim in these next four.
