Luis Sinisterra has taken to Instagram after the 2-2 draw between Leeds United and Manchester United to tell fans that he will be “back” – prompting reaction from a number of players, including Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia.
Sinisterra, 23, has clocked up 15 appearances since he joined the club from Feyenoord for a fee of £21m. But since, he has really struggled at Elland Road. While showing glimpses, injury has dogged his time in a Leeds United shirt.
A hamstring injury against Crystal Palace in pre-season in Australia, followed by a foot injury that saw Sini wear a boot during the World Cup break. Now, he has picked up a muscle problem, from the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.
He was forced off early on against Manchester United. Crysencio Summerville came on for him and it is likely that the Dutch kid starts against the same team on Sunday, this weekend. Sinisterra took to Instagram with a message.
Sinisterra takes to Instagram: Manchester United player Malacia reacts
It is a blow to lose Sinisterra, and more frustration for the player and Leeds themselves. Losing Raphinha to Barca, Sinisterra came in from Arne Slot’s Feyenoord. Shown glimpses – but three injuries, and a red card against Villa.
Luckily for Leeds, we have had Willy Gnonto come good – much more so than many could have guessed. It eases the loss of Sinisterra. Jack Harrison has stayed put. So, Leeds are okay in terms of cover – but it is still a big loss.
We will learn more from today’s presser, in terms of the length of his latest blow. Plenty reacted to Sini’s Instagram. Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson – who played alongside Sinisterra at Feyenoord last term – and Leeds star Stuart Dallas.
Malacia, another ex-Feyenoord teammate but now at bitter rivals Manchester United, also responded. He posted a touching reply – despite the rivalry between the two teams, especially with both clubs going head to head this week.
