Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the hero for Leeds United again after a fourth goal in four games saw Daniel Farke’s side earn a point against one of the best home sides in the Premier League, Brentford.
Going into the game, the stats suggested Leeds were up against it. Brentford had won five of their seven previous home games, picking up a total of 16 points from 21. Leeds had lost six of their seven, away.

So, it was fair to suggest a Brentford win was on the cards. The first half was close, with Leeds surviving a penalty shout after Gabriel Gudmundsson’s foul had initially saw referee John Brooks point to the spot.
Offside saved Gudmundsson, who endured a difficult afternoon. But after Jordan Henderson had scored for Brentford, Leeds came from behind to equalise. Calvert-Lewin leaped highest to head into the corner.

What Keith Andrews has noticed about Leeds over recent weeks
Leeds fans got to reignite a strange rivalry with Brentford boss Keith Andrews, which initially started after the Irishman criticised Pontus Jansson in 2019. Now in charge at Brentford, Leeds fans were in full voice.
It is fair to say that despite winning 16 points from 16 games, Leeds should have more. Late goals against Fulham, Bournemouth and Man City costing Leeds a total of five points, all scored after the 90th minute.
Andrews told BBC Sport that Leeds’ performances deserved more points this season: “The table doesn’t lie. We faced a Leeds team that are a pretty different prospect to the team from three weeks ago.
“The results they’ve had against the big teams and the performances, they’ve probably deserved them. They’ve changed the system and the way they play so we were always very respectful. A fair result.”

Keith Andrews frustrated with Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal
For the second time in two games, Leeds and Farke have relied upon a bit of magic from Willy Gnonto to get Leeds back into the game. The Italian’s gorgeous cross was perfect for Calvert-Lewin to nod home.
But 11-time England star Calvert-Lewin still had plenty to do. His leap was incredible as he flicked the ball into the net and Andrews discussed allowing Calvert-Lewin to score such a goal, especially while 1-0 up.
He said: “Calvert-Lewin doesn’t really need much in terms of what he’s about. Everyone in our dressing room knew his strengths. It’s A, stopping crosses and B, beating him. In that scenario we didn’t do that.”
Leeds now have six days to recover before returning to Elland Road to host another London side, this time Crystal Palace, who were beaten 3-0 by Man City on Sunday. Then, Sunderland on the 28th.
