Adam Forshaw has completed a move to Norwich City on a free transfer after his Leeds United contract came to an end earlier this summer – and plenty have responded, including a number of Leeds players.

Forshaw, 31, joined Leeds from Middlesbrough back in January 2018. But after five and a half years at Elland Road, the midfielder managed just 91 outings for the club. Constant injuries and hip problems.

He returned towards the end of last season, arguably being the best player under Sam Allardyce. It was expected he would play a crucial role in our hunt for an instant return to the Premier League this season.

But without a manager, Leeds submitted a retained list in June. It said that Forshaw had not been given a new deal – but that he had been invited to train with Leeds during pre-season. Same, with Joel Robles.

A Leeds offer did materialise – and one from Saudi Arabia. But on Saturday, Forshaw took to Instagram to confirm he had joined Norwich. He has signed a one-year deal, with the option of another 12 months.

Adam Forshaw completes Norwich move, Leeds players respond

It is a brilliant move for Forshaw. Clearly, not wanted enormously by Leeds despite losing Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Marc Roca in the middle. Leeds are expected to make a central midfield signing.

So, to join a club that look as though at this early stage, that they will be fighting Leeds and other clubs for a place in the top six – is a great move for him. Forshaw needs to get his head down, and stay fit.

Plenty responded to his move. Including those to comment on his Instagram were duo Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich who have of course left Leeds. Current stars Luke Ayling and Joe Gelhardt replied.
