Kalvin Phillips has backed Leeds United to bounce straight back to the Premier League next season.
Phillips was speaking in an interview with the BBC, where he was promoting his new Prime Video documentary ‘Kalvin Phillips: The Road to City’ that is set to be released on July 19.
The 27-year-old departed his boyhood club after over 10 years last summer as he made the £42 million switch to Manchester City.
Phillips had helped Leeds narrowly escape the drop on the final day in 2021/22 before being rewarded with his big move to City, where he went onto to help them lift the treble.
Leeds, however, were unable to cope with the loss of him and Raphinha and as such, were relegated from the Premier League after accumulating just 31 points from their 38 matches.

Phillips was still keeping an eye on his old side last season and says he was devastated to see Leeds relegated in May, but is backing them to bounce straight back.
He said: “I was devastated. I knew, obviously, it was going down to the wire and I was very nervous for them. I tried to send a few positive messages through to the team and my friends there, but sadly they went down.
“I know they’ve got an amazing club there and an amazing team there, and hopefully they will come straight back up which would be very nice.”
It is nice to hear Phillips is still backing his old teammates to do the job at Leeds and the foundations certainly are starting to be put into place to return to the Premier League.
However, Leeds need to start sharpening up in the transfer market if they are to do so with no incomings having yet come through the door.
With that said, hopefully it is not too long before Leeds can start facing football’s elite again, of which Phillips is now very much apart of.
