Junior Firpo and Luis Sinisterra are the latest Leeds United players to react on Instagram following the exit of Victor Orta as the club’s director of football – with Firpo describing Orta as one of the best people he has met in football.

Orta has left the club after six years in the role, having succumbed to the enormous pressure and criticism placed on the Spaniard. Leeds are about to sack a manager he brought in to replace Jesse Marsch, another failure of his.

Marsch failed after a year in the role and after a desperately poor search to replace him, Leeds eventually ended up with Javi Gracia. But after 5-1, 6-1 and 4-1 defeats to Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Bournemouth, he is set to go.

Indeed, Leeds have confirmed Orta’s departure – while Gracia’s is next. Sam Allardyce is on pole to come in for the Spaniard, in a last roll of the dice in a bid to save our Premier League status. But it is clear, that Orta is well-liked.

At least, behind the scenes. The majority of Leeds players – aside from the likes of Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas, were all signed by Orta. His passion often spilled over in the stands amid criticism from supporters.

But now, Leeds are set to bring in Allardyce and Orta has left. Leeds now have four games to save themselves from the drop, with Manchester City up next at The Etihad. Then, Newcastle at home, West Ham away, Spurs at home.

After Leeds posted that Orta had left the club, Firpo gave his reaction on his story. He said: “Probably one of the best people I have met in football. Gracias.” Sinisterra also posted on his story: “Grateful, all the best in the future”.
