Junior Firpo is certainly someone who seems to be playing with a lot of confidence for Leeds United right now.
Firpo has gone some way to silence his doubters in recent weeks. He has scored two goals in his last 10 games in all competitions – his first goals for the club.
And it seems that he has now got a taste for finding the back of the net – judging by what he has now posted on his Instagram story on Thursday.
Junior Firpo scores outrageous goal in training
Junior Firpo is one of the players still at Thorp Arch gearing up for that first game back, when Leeds travel to Arsenal, looking to build on the potentially massive win over Wolves at Molineux last time out.
What was noticeable against Julen Lopetegui’s side was just how many attacking options Javi Gracia had in his squad. Neither Luis Sinisterra or Georginio Rutter were needed in the victory.
Of course, three full-backs scored in the game, with both Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen scoring for us. And Firpo has seemingly wanted to get back in on the act.
As posted on the 26-year-old’s Instagram story, Firpo scored an outrageous goal in training, beating Joel Robles from just outside the penalty area.
The £13 million former Barcelona man produced a stepover before curling a stunning strike into the top corner – with his weaker right foot. Certainly, Joel had absolutely no chance to keep it out.
Obviously, Firpo’s first goal for Leeds actually came with his right foot, as he found the bottom corner at Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.
But this was definitely a much crisper strike. You would imagine that Aaron Ramsdale will not have a chance at the Emirates if Firpo manages to replicate his latest shot next weekend.
Firpo is receiving a lot of plaudits for his recent form. And rightly so. But that will be nothing compared to what he can expect if he scores an important goal against Arsenal.
And in truth, we will not care a jot whether it is a screamer or ends up being bundled in off his backside.
