Journalist shares new update as £10m man now ‘on verge’ of Leeds exit

Marc Roca’s loan move from Leeds United to Real Betis no longer has an option-to-buy included.

That is according to Sky in Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports a fresh round of negotiations have taken place in the last few days, which has now seen the permanent clause removed from the deal.

Plettenberg also added that Betis were keen on signing him on a permanent deal this summer, but no agreement was found and he will undergo a medical soon to finalise a loan switch.

As per Fabrizio Romano earlier this week, Leeds and Betis had shaken hands on a deal that was set to include an option-to-buy next summer.

That was rumoured to be in the region of £10 million, somewhere around the figure in which Leeds paid Bayern Munich for the 26-year-old last summer.

Roca deal to be finalised shortly with no option-to-buy

Roca is set to become Leeds’ fourth major exit of the window following the loan moves of Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Brenden Aaronson.

Rasmus Kristensen is another on the verge of securing a temporary departure, and his move to Roma could even be announced before Roca to Betis.

If this latest update is indeed correct, this is a very disappointing piece of negotiating from Leeds considering an option-to-buy is something that has always been likely for Roca.

Leeds have already lost enough players on straight loan deals this summer and Roca was set to be the one who could’ve brought in a guaranteed fee in 12 months’ time.

Of course, the details of what Betis were offering are at this stage unclear, but it is still disappointing to hear there will be longer be a permanent clause.
