Leeds United are in the mix to sign Italy striker Mateo Retegui this summer and now, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has taken to Twitter to share his price tag – with Argentine side Tigre requesting around £13million.
Retegui, 23, has broken into the Italy side in the last month. A surprise call-up to Roberto Mancini’s side, given he is from Argentina and only qualifies for Italy through his Grandmother. He made a seriously impressive start for Italy.
Indeed, he scored against England in Naples – before netting against Malta a few days later. Little surprise that clubs are starting to become interested. Ciro Venerato reports Leeds, Frankfurt and both Milan clubs want to sign the star.
Now, well-respected journalist Plettenberg reports that Leeds and any other interested parties would have to spend £13m for his current club Tigre to consider a sale. A player that saw Fabio Cannavaro praise Mancini, for finding.

Retegui is a bargain at £13m. Yes, a risk given he has only played in Argentina to this date. But he showed in his two caps for Italy that he has clearly outgrown Tigre and Argentine football as a whole. A move to Europe is inevitable.
Whether Leeds can win the race is another question. Retegui will have to determine whether he feels he is ready to join a club already in European competition – or join another team where he would probably get more game time.
Leeds fall under the latter category – and can easily afford a player like Retegui. But as said, it is all down to him. Leeds found out in the summer that Milan have more pulling power, winning the race to sign Charles De Ketelaere.
But for the Belgian, look how that turned out. He is really struggling at Milan and a summer exit is already being touted. Retegui should really consider a move to Leeds – or Frankfurt, who are likely to sell Randal Kolo Muani.
