Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Everton can tempt Leeds United into the sale of Willy Gnonto if they decide to table a fee of £40m for the Italian – with their most-recent offer said to be worth £25m.
Gnonto, 19, is back in Leeds training after refusing to play for the last three games – not being picked for games against Shrewsbury, Birmingham City and West Brom. It comes after a chat with Daniel Farke.
The Italy ace could be involved against Ipswich on Saturday. Meanwhile, Football Transfers report that Everton are set to table a ‘final’ offer worth £30m. But as things stand, it looks as though he will stay.
Gnonto can moan all he likes – but he signed a contract that did not include a release clause in the event of relegation. Jones has now shared the fee that Everton or any other club can tempt Leeds with. £40m.
“Everton would not go above £25m. Leeds are not considering that because of how wild the market has been this summer. It’s going to take close to £40m. There aren’t many clubs that are going to go there.”

If Everton table £40m, Leeds should bite their arm off. Phil Hay said on the latest episode of The Square Ball podcast that keeping Gnonto is a good thing – but fans would be happy if he is sold, at the right fee.
Gnonto though, looks like he will stay at Leeds. Everton are hardly flush with cash after a possible stake holder pulled out of a move to takeover the Toffees. The next couple of weeks will be interesting.
