TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has told Give Me Sport that Southampton could sell long-term Leeds United target Che Adams with Premier League clubs circling – and bring in another Leeds target, Joel Piroe, as his replacement.

Scotland star Adams, 27, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Southampton and after the Saints were relegated, a move is likely. Despite not being a regular goalscorer in the top flight, his work rate will attract suitors.

Alan Nixon has reported that Wolves and Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth want the £10m-rated star. Southampton may have to sell in order to avoid losing him on a free next summer. He is of course a long-term target at Elland Road.

Victor Orta once told Scouted Hub he almost agreed a loan for Adams in January 2020, but it fell through. Back in January, TalkSPORT said Leeds were keeping tabs on Adams. Now, it seems Southampton are willing to sell Adams.

Indeed, the Saints have already lined-up a replacement. They would like to bring in Piroe to cover the loss of Adams. Wales Online say Swansea want a fee of £15m for the Dutchman, with Leeds among the clubs interested in the star.

Crook said: “Adams has interest from the Premier League. He will probably go towards the end of the window. Then I think Piroe would come into their thoughts. He’s only got a year left. He’s made it clear he’s not signing a new deal.”

Southampton could sell long-term Leeds target Adams and bring in Piroe

A double blow, for Leeds. The Whites are probably not actively looking at a move for Adams at this moment in time, but clearly he is a player we admire – given the interest in him over the last few years. Piroe is certainly on our radar.

Any possible reigniting of a move for Adams always has a chance. So, to see any chance of a move for Adams, and then miss out on Piroe, would be a massive double blow for Leeds. The Whites need to start moving quickly.
