Graeme Bailey has told the Talking Transfers podcast that Championship clubs can only dream of signing new Leeds United duo Glen Kamara and Joel Piroe – as both impress under Daniel Farke.

Farke had to completely restructure this Leeds side from what we were last season, into what we are now. A new-look side, with new signings mixing with players that had struggled for Leeds last term.

Ethan Ampadu, Sam Byram and plenty more have made an impression since coming in to the side in the summer. But so have Piroe and Kamara, bought for fees worth more than a combined £20m at Leeds.

Kamara is now first choice alongside Ampadu in the middle of the park and Piroe is forming a superb partnership with Georginio Rutter, the latter probably our player of the season so far. Two big signings.

Transfer expert Bailey told the Talking Transfers podcast that Kamara and Piroe are excellent signings, and that most Championship clubs could only dream of getting the Dutch striker – or Finnish midfielder.

“Leeds who a lot of people thought might drop off, a few signings. Joel Piroe, Glen Kamara. Players who other Championship clubs let alone Middlesbrough could only dream of. Kamara came in from Rangers.

“Piroe was on a lot of Premier League side’s radar. They are flying now. Summerville is playing so well. Meslier, Rutter is a £30m player. I think those three will run away with it [Leicester and Ipswich too].”

Bailey is right. Even if Kamara or Piroe wanted to join any other Championship club, they’d have a job paying the amount of cash Leeds spent on them in the summer. Leeds have done well to get them in.

With players like Kamara and Piroe in the side, Leeds look more than likely to be up there, fighting for promotion. Failure to be in and amongst it given the cash spent would be deemed a missed opportunity.
