Jack Harrison made his debut for Everton on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup during a win over Aston Villa – and Everton Echo reporter Joe Thomas summed up his display, describing him as “relentless”.

Harrison was one of eight senior players to take advantage of the loan release clause. Max Wober, Robin Koch, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen, Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra, did too.

But injury had hampered his start to life on loan at Everton and it took until Wednesday for the winger to finally pull on an Everton jersey. He lasted little over the hour mark during an away win over Aston Villa.

Dom Calvert-Lewin and James Garner got the goals for the Toffees, cancelling out Boubacar Kamara’s late goal. So, a brilliant debut from Harrison and Thomas summed up his display in a post on Twitter.

Indeed, Thomas says that 26-year-old Harrison – who played 206 times for Leeds during a five-year period – was “relentless” on Wednesday night and gave £33m Villa signing Pau Torres “nightmares”.

Harrison makes Everton debut: Leeds ace described as relentless

It did not look right to see Harrison posing in an Everton shirt as the Toffees revealed their starting XI on Wednesday night. But, he made a solid start just as Everton are starting to develop some momentum.

Harrison will now be focusing on breaking into the line-up on a Premier League matchday, with Everton next in action against Luton Town on Saturday. The memory of Harrison at Leeds, though, is long gone.

Indeed, Cree Summerville and Willy Gnonto seem to be the future of the club – at least, for the next year. Jaidon Anthony scored on Saturday as Dan James laid on two assists. It is not as if we’re missing him.
