Graham Smyth reported on the Yorkshire Evening Post’s site that Leeds United ace Willy Gnonto headed straight down the tunnel on Saturday afternoon – unlike, those such as Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk.
Gnonto started once again for Leeds despite his decision to refuse to play for three games in order to force a transfer. But Leeds failed to make the breakthrough in the draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
The game ended 0-0, with Gnonto yet to add to his solitary goal this season – coming against Ipswich Town. A frustrating afternoon for Leeds and especially Gnonto, who is tasked with scoring goals for us.
Smyth reports that after the full-time whistle, the 19-year-old headed straight down the tunnel without thanking fans for their support throughout the draw. However, Rodon and Struijk did the exact opposite.
The centre-back pairing, which is beginning to be a surprise bright spark in the team, stayed behind to hand out shirts and applaud supporters. Smyth says Gnonto did not, straight off the pitch after full-time.
“Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon and others removed their shirts to give them to delighted supporters in the West Stand and Kop. Gnonto elected not to join his team-mates and headed straight down the tunnel.”

Of course, it was a frustrating one for Gnonto who is under the spotlight for many reasons. The pressure is on him, as probably our highest-rated attacker, to fire us back into the Premier League this season.
But as well as that, his relationship with fans is frayed after the summer. Many have forgiven him, aware that his decisions were likely to have been a result of agents in his ear. And, that he is still only a teen.
However, Gnonto must learn – and fast – that if he is going to get fans back on side, then doing little things like staying behind after the full-time whistle, will help. To be fair, he is often seen after full-time.
