Journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that sources have suggested that Leeds United are confident that Jack Harrison will now sign a new contract at Elland Road.

Harrison’s future has been a talking point for several months. He played an important role in keeping the Whites in the Premier League last season.

Some of his performances this term have arguably been better than what we saw last season. He has also struggled to make a notable impact on other occasions. Nevertheless, he is attracting attention.

Leeds confident of agreeing new contract with Harrison

Reports from the Daily Mirror claimed that Newcastle United remain admirers of the winger. And with that, Leeds’ task of tying Harrison down to fresh terms has become no easier.

However, it would appear that Leeds are optimistic about Harrison’s future.

“I’ve checked this out and sources close to it are saying that Leeds are confident that he will sign that new contract soon,” Jones told Give Me Sport.

Harrison will be the first to admit that his tally of one goal and three assists in 13 Premier League games is not good enough for a player of his ability.

That tally is all the more disappointing when you consider that all of his goal contributions came in the first three league games of the campaign.

There is an argument that Jesse Marsch’s preference to dominate the middle of the park does not play to Harrison’s strengths.

But selling him would have sent out a worrying statement. Few players in the Leeds squad probably worry opponents as much as Harrison does.

He is an ‘unbelievable‘ talent. And he has the potential to make things happen at any point. So losing him would have been incredibly worrying for many Leeds fans.

The good news is that it would appear that Harrison is indeed staying put and committing his future to Leeds.
