Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is “very frustrated” at Elland Road at this moment in time – and he could end up leaving in January, having missed out on a place in Poland’s World Cup squad.

Klich, 32, has been watching on from home having been overlooked for a place in Poland’s squad. A bit of a surprise among those in Poland, but his lack of game time at Leeds has not helped. Indeed, he has not started a League game.

The 41-time Poland star has been a regular for Leeds ever since Marcelo Bielsa arrived in 2018. He has clocked up 192 appearances for the Whites, but with Leeds signing Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams and Marc Roca – he has dropped.

Indeed, a lack of game time and momentum cost him his place in Poland’s side. It might be that Klich blames for Marsch for that, and he would probably be right to do so. Jones says Klich is “very frustrated” and wants to leave.

“It’s just personal preference really. This is the kind of thing that happens when you change manager and Klich has kind of been a victim of that switch. He is very frustrated, he is looking for a transfer when we get to January,” Jones said.

Ultimately for Klich, he needs to go. It would be a blow for Leeds – he is the perfect player to have on the bench if we are lacking some creativity. It was his display and introduction that really saw us pick up a 2-1 win over Wolves.

Where does he go? He has a contract at Leeds until June 2024 and it might be, that Leeds require a fee for his services. There might be more of a possibility that Leeds allow Klich to go on loan – the Netherlands being a likely destination.
