Transfer expert Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Willy Gnonto now “wants to leave” Leeds United and could even get “restless” at Elland Road if a move is not secured – with Premier League and Serie A clubs linked with him.
Gnonto, 19, has been strongly linked with a move ever since the club suffered relegation. It comes after impressing in his 28 games for Leeds, having a hand in eight goals. He has been in and out of the side during our pre-season.
However, while the likes of Luis Sinisterra, Dan James, Crysencio Summerville and even Ian Poveda have started games during pre-season – Gnonto has not. He had not returned in time for the game against Manchester United.
Sub appearances then, against Monaco, Forest and Hearts. Even in the last two outings against Forest and Hearts, Poveda has come on as a sub ahead of Gnonto. It is clear that Gnonto is far too good at this level – he could be sold.
Now, journalist Jones has told GMS that Gnonto is keen to exit Elland Road over the course of the next few weeks. Of course, Everton have had bids rejected while Italian clubs want him. Jones claims he could become restless.
“I hear that Gnonto wants to leave, I think he’ll get a bit restless if he’s playing in the Championship when it kicks off. So, let’s see how it all develops,” Jones said, discussing the future of Gnonto at Leeds on Give Me Sport’s website.

His exit was always likely. But Gnonto must be careful of not being influenced by outside parties, and other powers at play. Leeds fans love the Italian, and if he does end up staying – he will have full faith in him from the Leeds crowd.
But it needs to be done in the right way, not forcing himself out of the club. Be patient, allow a club to come in for you and if the price is right, then a sale is fair. Making yourself restless and trying to force a sale never looks good.
