The Mirror’s Darren Lewis expects Tottenham Hotspur ace Troy Parrott to leave Spurs on loan again with Ange Postecoglou unconvinced – and Leeds United should consider a move to lure him to Elland Road.
Parrott, 21, joined Preston last summer on loan – after 17 goals and assists at MK Dons the season prior in League One – but struggled. Preston’s defensive style, and an injury, limited him to just two goals.
It was not the right fit. The 20-time Ireland man has huge quality, and massive potential. He just needs to find himself the right loan move. Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe called him a “leader” last season.
Leeds need a striker. Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford remain out injured. Joe Gelhardt is better as a 10, playing there against West Brom. Georginio Rutter is a winger, Daniel Farke wants to use him there.
So, Leeds need a striker. One that allows Rutter to go out wide, Gelhardt to play as a 10 and the club to no longer rely on Bamford, or unproven Joseph. Parrott can be that, now experienced in the second tier.
Parrott to leave Tottenham on loan: Leeds should consider move
Leeds have a good relationship with Spurs. Recent deals including Jack Clarke in 2018, and of course this summer, Joe Rodon joining the club on a season-long loan. Gretar Steinsson is at Elland Road.
The ex-Bolton defender is part of the transfer team, after working under Fabio Paratici at Spurs during the 2022-23 season. His presence is likely to have played a role in getting Rodon to the club this month.
Leeds need a striker, Parrott is likely to go on loan and the two clubs have the connection. Parrott would be a smart signing, one with something to prove – able to create and score. One to consider this month.
