Back on top of the Championship table and a return to Elland Road on Saturday sees Leeds United well-positioned to secure automatic promotion – and Josuha Guilavogui has sent a message to fans.
The seven-time France international came off the bench injury time to replace Brenden Aaronson and make his first Leeds appearance since he started the 2-0 defeat to Millwall back at the start of February.
Guilavogui though, remains at Leeds with a smile on his face. Indeed, Guilavogui said Leeds had signed him for his role off the pitch as much as on it in his first interview following his October arrival at Leeds.
The Frenchman came off the bench to help shore up a Leeds defence under intense pressure from a Middlesbrough side pushing for the play-offs. Leeds did their job, and secured a massive 1-0 victory.
Josuha Guilavogui sends message to Leeds United supporters
Guilavogui has become known for his messages after games on social media. Often looking to galvanise an emotional fanbase that often need lifting when things don’t go their way, one win in six before Boro.
The former Wolfsburg, Mainz and Atletico Madrid ace posted a long-winded message to supporters in which he attempted to rally fans ahead of Preston on Saturday – admitting Leeds had been in a “storm”.
He posted on Instagram: “Victory always tastes sweeter when you’ve walked through the fire. This season has been a storm of emotions — hope, unity, and resilience. There are highs that make us believe.”
Guilavogui continued: “And lows that reveal our character. But through it all, we never stop Next stop: Preston. Let’s carry this fire into our stadium and make it count.”
Leeds United injury news and concerns ahead of Preston clash
Next up for Leeds, and the first of five remaining games is Preston at Elland Road on Saturday. Another game for Leeds to try and wash their hands of a lunchtime hoodoo that has gripped Daniel Farke’s side.
Burnley host Norwich City on Friday night while Sheffield United go to rock-bottom Plymouth Argyle at the same time. Come the end of Saturday, Leeds could find themselves five clear of the Blades again.
That is if Wilder’s side lose a third consecutive match but against a Plymouth side that were hammered by Swansea on Wednesday night, the chances seem unlikely. A win however, takes Leeds a step closer.
The Whites will be without Pascal Struijk, with Farke expected to confirm on Thursday if he has fractured his foot. Joe Rothwell remains out with a calf issue while Dan James is also likely to be missing.
