Joshua Guilavogui has now done something no other Leeds United player has in history

Two points now separate Leeds United and Sheffield United at the top of the Championship table as The Whites secured 1-0 win over Derby County on Sunday evening – and history was made.

Daniel Farke’s men have now amassed a massive 51 points from 24 Championship games. The only side in England’s second tier to reach the half-century mark, after Sheffield United only drew with West Brom.

Sunderland and Burnley also failed to win on Sunday and that has seen Leeds steal a bit of a march on their promotion rivals ahead of New Year’s Day, when John Eustace’s Blackburn come to Elland Road.

Brenden Aaronson scored the all-important goal on 79 minutes as Leeds secured a third win in a row. But, another Leeds player made history on Sunday night as he came off the bench following his arrival.

Josuha Guilavogui makes history in eighth Leeds United outing

Since arriving at Elland Road on a free transfer in October, seven-time France international Guilavogui has warmed the hearts of Leeds fans. A smiley personality alongside his willingness to play cover is endearing.

But on the pitch, 34-year-old Guilavogui has come off the bench on eight occasions since his arrival at Leeds. In all eight games, Leeds have secured victories with his latest coming on Sunday away at Derby.

The former Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg and St. Etienne midfielder became the first Leeds player to win all eight of his first eight outings. A remarkable achievement even if he is actually yet to start for the club.

Will Josuha Guilavogui actually start a game for Leeds?

With Ethan Ampadu fit and firing and Ilia Gruev expected to return to the pitch towards the end of the month, Leeds look well-stocked in the middle of the park again. So, when will Guilavogui get a start?

He has signed a 12-month deal at Elland Road and the chances are, he won’t be afforded a single start in the league if the likes of Gruev, Ampadu, Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell remain fit but in the cup, he might.

Indeed, Leeds take on League Two side Harrogate Town on January 11 in the third round of The FA Cup and his attitude and demeanour will surely be rewarded by Farke with his first start for the club, then.
