Joel Robles has taken to Instagram to laud Junior Firpo after Leeds United’s massive win over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road on Tuesday.

Leeds have moved themselves right up the Premier League table with a 2-1 victory over Steve Cooper’s side. Of course, we could tumble back down just as quickly. But it was a night where Leeds dealt with the pressure to secure a huge three points.

There were superb performances all over the park. The likes of Marc Roca, Weston McKennie and Luis Sinisterra have arguably never been better for Leeds.

But it cannot be said enough just how outstanding Junior Firpo has been over the last few weeks.

Firpo was written off by many of us after a tough first 18 months at Elland Road. It certainly did appear that our left-back curse was continuing with the 26-year-old.

But Firpo has been superb for several weeks now. The winner against Southampton has been a turning point. And he has just got better and better.

The fact that Brennan Johnson barely got a kick over the course of the game was partly down to how poor Forest were. But when he was involved, he was often unable to make anything happen because of Firpo.

The full-back also made one potentially goal-saving challenge during the second-half.

It really feels as though Firpo has been a different player under Javi Gracia. And Joel Robles has now summed up how a lot of supporters feel about the defender on Instagram, responding to Firpo’s post after the win…

You do have to wonder what would have happened had Javi Gracia been put in charge a lot sooner. As much as we all wanted Jesse Marsch to be the man to take us forward, those wins just before the World Cup probably cost us in the long run.

Leeds have been better under Gracia. And a number of players have improved significantly since the change. And Firpo is most definitely the one who has been transformed more than any other.
