Joel Piroe has become Leeds United’s fifth arrival of the window after we struck a deal with Swansea City for the Dutch goal machine – and he has posted on Instagram for the first time as a Leeds player.

Piroe, 24, joins Leeds with Daniel Farke’s side lacking a reliable no.9. Patrick Bamford continues to be riddled by injury. Mateo Joseph is also out. Joe Gelhardt and Georginio Rutter are better elsewhere.

So, Leeds needed a no.9 and in comes Piroe – a player that has lead the line for Swansea over the last two years. Joining Swansea from PSV Eindhoven in 2021, Piroe scored 44 goals in his first two terms.

Just 92 games. This season, he already has two goals in four games for the Swans. Now, he joins us on a four-year deal until 2027. Piroe has been signed in time to be a part of the squad travelling to Ipswich.

Active on social media, Piroe has posted on Instagram for the first time since swapping Wales for West Yorkshire. It is a real coup for Leeds – targeting Piroe as the striker to sign, and getting him over the line.

So, does PIroe start at Ipswich? The chances are, probably not. Daniel Farke will want him to watch on from the bench to get a feel for the way he wants Leeds to play. Get him used to use first in training.

However, it is hardly as if Leeds have got time to allow that to happen. Ipswich on Saturday, then a quick turnaround for Leeds ahead of Tuesday – when we go to Salford in the Carabao Cup second round.

Either way, what a signing Piroe is and a brilliant signal of intent from the 49ers going into the final few days of the window. Nadiem Amiri, Glen Kamara, Joseph Paintsil, Lewis O’Brien and Djed Spence?
