Mateo Joseph was handed his Premier League debut by Jesse Marsch as a late sub during Leeds loss to Tottenham – and plenty have applauded the Spanish striker on Instagram, like Joe Gelhardt, Liam Cooper and Marc Roca.

Joseph, 19, joined Leeds from Espanyol in January and struggled initially. But his form this season has been incredible. For the 21’s, he has scored 12 goals in 11 games for Michael Skubala’s side, earning him the chance to play for Marsch.

He started for Leeds on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup against Wolves, and was impressive without scoring. Then, with Patrick Bamford missing against Spurs, he came off the bench for the final few minutes of the 4-3 defeat.

Joseph took to Instagram after making his Premier League debut. He spoke of how it was a dream of his as a child to play in England’s top tier, and he has now realised that dream. There are plenty of high hopes for the young striker.

Gelhardt and Roca have applauded Leeds striker Joseph after debut

Leeds have a real gem on their hands. Joseph is another example of Leeds bringing in a young player between the ages of 16 and 19, and nurturing him into a first-team star. Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood.

Reports even claim that Joseph is on the verge of earning an England Under-20 call-up. That is, despite being born in Santander in Spain. It might be that he chooses to switch allegiance to England – his form is certainly deserving of it.

Plenty reacted to Joseph and his post on Instagram, praising the Spanish ace. Even though he is direct rivalry for a place in the Leeds side, Joffy was full of praise – his debut was fully deserved. Roca and Liam Cooper also reacted.
